What is Junel 21 1.5/30?
Junel 21 1.5/30 (ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone) is a combination medication that provides female hormones (progestin and estrogen) to prevent pregnancy. Junel 21 1.5/30 prevents ovulation (the releasing of an egg by an ovary), alters the cervical mucus so sperm can’t reach the uterus and fertilize an egg as easily, and alters the uterine lining so an egg can’t attach to the uturus as easily.
Junel 21 1.5/30 Dosage
Junel 21 1.5/30 should be taken exactly as directed. Take one tablet daily, at around the same time, and do not allow intervals between tablets exceed 24 hours. Depending on whether you are taking the 21-pill package or the 28-pill package, one course of Junel 21 1.5/30 contains 21 active pills (progestin/estrogen combination) and may contain 7 inactive reminder pills. Use of Junel 21 1.5/30 may begin with either a Sunday start (the first Sunday following menstruation) or a Day 1 start (the day menstruation starts). If your period begins on Sunday, you should take the first active tablet that day. For the 21-day course, without interruption, take one active pill daily for 21 days, then wait 7 days without medication before beginning the next course. For the 28-day course, take one active pill daily for 21 consecutive days, and then one inactive reminder pill daily for the remaining 7 days of the course. When each course has finished, begin a new course the next day by taking an active tablet, regardless of whether or not your period occurs.

Some side effects of ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone include dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, weight changes, irregular menstrual periods, and breast pain or tenderness.
