Aranelle Medical Information
What is Aranelle?
Aranelle (ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone) is a combination medication that provides female hormones (progestin and estrogen) to prevent pregnancy. Aranelle prevents ovulation (the releasing of an egg by an ovary), alters the cervical mucus so sperm can’t reach the uterus and fertilize an egg as easily, and alters the uterine lining so an egg can’t attach to the uturus as easily.
Aranelle should be taken exactly as directed. Take one tablet daily, at around the same time, and do not allow intervals between tablets exceed 24 hours. One course of Aranelle contains 28 tablets. One tablet should be taken daily for 28 consecutive days in the following order: take 7 yellow tablets, then 9 white tablets, then 5 yellow tablets, followed by 7 peach inactive tablets. Use of Aranelle may begin with either a Sunday start (the first Sunday following menstruation) or a Day 1 start (the day menstruation starts). If your period begins on Sunday, you should take the first yellow tablet that day. For each course, without interruption, take one tablet daily for 28 days. When all 28 tablets have been taken, begin a new course the next day by taking the first tablet from a new course, regardless of whether or not your period occurs.
